Invitation: Digital Skills for the Workforce –

Meetings on Hawai`i Island - April 27th in Kailua-Kona and Hilo

Hawai`i Island Economic Development Board (HIEDB) and Hawai’i Community College, as part of the Hawaii Broadband Hui Task Force were asked to help identify Hawai’i Island businesses and nonprofits from various sectors to participate in a workshop facilitated by consultants, Rebecca Soon and Liza Ryan Gill of Solutions Pacific, on April 27th in Kailua-Kona and Hilo.

The Digital Skills for the Workforce Hui, a project funded by the National Governors Association and led by the HI State Public Library System, Governor Ige’s Office, Broadband & Digital Equity Office at DBEDT, Hawai’i Literacy Inc., Workforce Development Council and the Friends of the Library to create a plan for the state to reach the goals of the Digital Equity Declaration is coming to Kailua-Kona and Hilo.

From learning how to use a mouse to certification in cloud computing- if you teach or train people in digital skills that they are/could use for work- your input is needed. (They are also interested in employers that have done training with their employees or who are facing digital literacy/skills challenges.)These will be solutions-focused workshops to gather your mana’o as a practitioner/leader/employer and brainstorm potential plans for reaching the goal of a digitally equitable and equipped workforce in the state.
